Ole Miss

It has been nearly 5 yaers since James Meredith broke down doors of race at thetcl-5abn822g9y1kk5d4btj_layout-193x300.jpg University of Mississippi.

He was the first known black student to attend Ole Miss. Now 77, Meredith is alternately intelligent and eccentric, brainy and bizarre, a man who graduated from Columbia Law School but never bothered to take the bar exam.

In 1960s he was named one of the six black leaders in the nation by NBC.

In 1966 he started a one man march against Fear in Mississippi. However during this march he was shot, luckily he survived.Civil rights activists took over the march for him until he was recovered fully enough to join them.
